Delmarva Golden Retrievers is a small hobby kennel situated on 4 acres in the beautiful state of Maryland. Located just north of Baltimore City in the heart of farm and steeple chase country, my dogs have 2 securely enclosed 3/4 acre dogs yards in which to romp. Both areas are surrounded by pine and maple trees for the utmost privacy.
All of my Goldens are part of the family and raised in my home in a family environment. Each dog is thoroughly tested for genetic diseases before they are bred. All health clearances can be verified on the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals website. Testing includes an x-ray examination of the hips and elbows (OFA), blood tests for thyroid function, a yearly examination of the eyes by a board certified Ophthalmologist, and finally a check of the heart by a board certified Cardiologist (I do not use a "specialist"....only a Cardiologist). Each dog by the age of 18 months has a DNA profile which is registered with the American Kennel Club. I do not take shortcuts on the clearances of my dogs. I send in each clearance to the appropriate registry. It is imperative to have an accurate and complete database when researching pedigrees. Yes, it costs a bit more but I feel it is for the betterment of the breed to have this invaluable information at hand. I wish ALL breeders felt the same way!

At Delmarva Goldens, the main focus in my breeding program is soundness and temperament. I strive to produce dogs that will excel in any activity you choose to pursue. I have produced dogs who have obtained titles in Conformation (Canadian and American champions, Best Puppy), Obedience (CDX), Agility (Open) and the Field (JH and WC). I also have produced multiple therapy dogs. But the accomplishment in which I am most proud of are the high quality, healthy family companions who are adored by their owners!

It is very important to me that I maintain the multi-purpose function of the Golden Retriever. They must have brains "AND" beauty! Therefore, I only keep (and breed to) those dogs who show promise in the field and have the structure to be competitive in the breed ring. Soundness and quality go hand in hand at Delmarva Goldens!
I am very proud of my dogs and my standing in the "Golden Community". A good temperament is critical and my dogs absolutely "MUST" be able to run together and interact without scuffles. In my breeding program there is no room for a dog with a nasty temperament or a dog that is terribly shy and what I describe as "spooky". Some breeders feel these temperaments are ok...I do not.
I will not breed a dog that has a major fault (such as a bad bite, missing teeth or is over/under sized). I will not breed a dog that has not passed a clearance. These dogs, no matter how lovely, will be placed as family companions and will not be a part of my breeding program.
I adhere to the GRCA Code of Ethics in my breeding program
