Delmarva Golden Retrievers is a small hobby kennel situated on 4 acres in the beautiful state of Maryland.  Located just north of Baltimore in the heart of farm and steeple chase country, my dogs have 2 securely enclosed 3/4 acre dog yards in which to romp.  Both areas are surrounded by pine and maple trees for the utmost privacy.

All of my Goldens are part of the family and raised in my home in a family environment. Each dog is thoroughly tested for genetic diseases before they are bred. All health clearances can be verified on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals website. Testing includes an x-ray examination of hips and elbows (OFA), blood tests for thyroid function, a yearly examination of the eyes by a board certified Ophthalmologist, and finally a check of the heart and general health by a board certified Cardiologist. Each dog, by the age of 18 months, has a DNA profile which is registered with the American Kennel Club.

At Delmarva Goldens, the main focus in my breeding program is soundness and temperament. I strive to produce dogs that will excel in any activity you choose to pursue, whether it is conformation, agility, obedience, hunting, or as a cherished family pet. I have produced dogs who have obtained  titles in Conformation, Obedience, Agility and the Field.  I am also very proud to have produced several "Therapy" dogs.

Somewhere along the line the true purpose of the Golden Retriever breed was lost.  Breeders got caught up in the "show" ring and forgot that Golden Retrievers were originally bred to be gun dogs.  I strive to produce dogs that are competitive in the show ring but also are able to do what they were originally bred for...HUNT.  A TRUE multi-purpose Golden Retriever can look gorgeous AND hunt!

I am very proud of my dogs and my standing in the "Golden Community".  A good temperament is critical and my dogs absolutely "MUST" be able to run together and interact without scuffles.  In my breeding program there is no room for a dog with a nasty temperament or a dog who is terribly shy and what I describe as "spooky".  Some breeders feel these temperaments are ok....I do not.

It is very important to me to maintain the multi-purpose function of the Golden Retriever.  They must have beauty "AND" brains! Therefore, as stated above, I only keep (and breed to) those dogs who show promise in the field and have the structure to be competitive in the breed ring.  Soundness and quality go hand in hand at Delmarva Goldens!

I adhere to the GRCA Code of Ethics in our breeding program.

I absolutely will not include in my breeding program, a dog who has not passed a clearance.
